The Great White Heron can be found in small numbers in shallow marine waters along the coast of Southern Florida, the Caribbean and the Yucatan Peninsula. They grow to a height of 97-137 cm with an average wingspan of 167-201 cm and weigh 2100-2500 g.

Unlike other species that suffer from plume hunters and pesticides, birds of this species are stronger and their number, in the wild, remains rather stable. In the wild, the Great Blue Herons live from 15 to 20 years; in captivity, they live 20-23 years. Chick breeders may work with birds also.
